The Psalms

Eugene Peterson

We are a third of the way through the our 30 day BACK 2 SCHOOL prayer challenge. We spent the first 10 days praying the beautiful and powerful promises found in Ephesians 3v14-21 over our families.

As we prayed over what trajectory to take in the next days, we decided to journey through 10 Psalms. The Psalms are full of honest prayers, desperate cries of the soul, and comforting promises that both bring awareness to the helplessness we find in ourselves and the overwhelming hopefulness in the Good Shepherd. There is invitation into solidarity, sympathy, and empathy.

There is a deep sense of security in the poets and writers of the Psalms; a sense that they intimately KNOW the God of the scriptures in a sincere way. There is a freedom to be laid bare in full vulnerability in one moment and full of joy in the next. The Psalms are an invitation into the wild imagination of past poets and kings who seem to understand the prophet Jeremiah's invitation to seek and find the Lord.

We would like to invite you and your families to journey with us through the Psalms for the next 10 days.
